CoolSculpting came about in a very strange way when two Harvard scientists were studying a condition called popsicle panniculitis, which, as its name suggests, affects kids who eat a lot of popsicles. The children started developing cheek dimples and lost fat where the dimples had formed. The scientists detected a link between losing fat and exposure to cold temperatures.

Freeze Fat with CoolSculpting – How it Works

After a lot of trial and error, they found that fat cells are more sensitive to cold temperatures than other body tissue. They were actually able to pinpoint the exact temperature at which fat cells die, while other cells remained unaffected. The medical term for this is called cryolipolysis, meaning ‘freeze fat’.

Moreover, they found that the dead fat cells were slowly and safely released via the body’s natural waste system. As the fat dissipated, the treated area began to shrink. That’s how CoolSculpting – our fat freezing procedure – came into being.

In 2010, the FDA approved CoolSculpting and, since then, more than a million treatments have been performed across the world, and the results have been excellent. It has also been discovered that when special applicators are used to freeze fat on the body, a new sculpted look can be achieved. The treatment has been hailed as an innovative, natural, non-surgical way to lose stubborn pockets of fat.
